Went to Ontario Summer games to watch U15 Girls OPDL. Never once saw a goalie play short, play was overall poor. Attacking third play was pathetic. I saw more Ping Pong soccer then looking to build. There was a couple high quality players on some teams and a whole bunch of fill in players. Watched one team struggle to get the ball across half as their play was built around booting it up to a lone striker playing tight to the CB's. If and when she could control the ball there were no runs off her and she would continuously loss possession. Watched defenders under pressure never use their keepers and either turn and lose the ball or kick it out of bounds.
3 years in OPDL high performance training and this is the elite soccer we're developing?
Best part was listening to the coaches argue with calls by the ref and parents yelling instructions from the sideline, lol. High standards BS!

most teams had 18 players. What is the team dynamic like when you a bench player paying $1000's of dollars to sit there and watch others play. If it is truly about development then shouldn't there be some sort of equal playing time? Of course not because it still comes down to winning as it always will. Development is about what you say not your actual actions.

Fall OASL divisions announced. Top teams promoted to CHAMPIONSHIP division with rest relegated to Tier 1A division. Surprised to see Eurostar FC (London) vanish from U16 level. Any info on what happened to them? www.academysoccer.ca/?link=division&Dpick=00163

Whitecaps London strong in it's attempt to poach team after team. OPDL development at it's best? Will Byron-NorWest receive compensation for poached teams by Whitecaps London? They poached a Byron 05 girls team to start their 05 OPDL, trying to now get 06 girls teams to fill OPDL and regional teams, all over 07 an 08 girls groups as well. Starts with paying their HC and promise the world to a couple players. I thought OPDL was about developing the player, why poach teams from traditionally weak club? Could it be for the money? ?? Best vs best is a total joke led by Whitecaps London. Promises of Provincial tryouts and free fee's, sounds more like a pathetic attempt to save ones job.

Whitecaps 2006 girls trials today had 9 players come out. 5 came from Sarnia. Where are all the best London players? OS advertises Best vs Best. $4000 cost shouldn't scare anyone, afterall best vs best.

Byron NorWest broke up. NorWest is going back to it's roots as the merger never worked out for them. Next step is Whitecaps affilate with Byron. Every group that can't win a L3 spot becomes Whitecaps to get the automatic placement. Can't earn the sot on Merit so buy it, this is the new OS at it's best. The $200000+ coaching fee's Whitecaps is racking up gets paid for by Byron players fee's increasing. Youth soccer at it's finest!!!!

Whitecaps who get automatic berth in Inter-District league has 2 girls and 4 boys to assessments for 2006 Regional teams! OPDL team may not have enough to make a team either, if they do the quality will be poor for the girls and average for the boys. Why is this club getting prefered treatment? Quality teams/clubs in London fighting for everything they get while one gets everything handed to them. If your willing to pay big bucks the "pathway" is there for you, lol!

Whitecap head coaches start at $6000, OPDL head coaches make a minimum $12000. Awesome, doesn't matter if you were just a community coach last week now that your in a "professional" club you automatically make $6000 qualified or not. Then look at how many of these coaches have 4/5 teams listed under them as Head Coach. Wow, let's have everyone make their careers off youth soccer players. 99.9% that will never play at National or even Provincial (which is now a joke process anyways) level.

Hey EMSA teams, pissed off with changes happening regarding district positions i.e. 05 an 06 Whitecaps get an automatic bid. Well their Academy director is coming to town from Vancouver. Guarentee you a closed door meeting with OS and EMSA will happen and even more changes will come. Apparently it's all of your faults no one wants to play OPDL. Obviously it has nothing to do with two licenses in London, obviously it has nothing to do with the extreme cost, obviously it has nothing to do with the mediocre play. Nope it's you, so more rule changes are coming to force players in their direction.

Can't believe how many London OPDL players will be leaving this year. I guess it should be no surprise when a league is based on Social Media hype with little substance people will eventually will see it for themselves. Standards based bullshit.

EMSA board (John Dutot) just screwed over all of EMSA district. He made a back room deal with the London Whitecaps. They took all L3 Regional spots away from Alliance FC and gave them to Whitecaps. Even if Whitecaps can't provide a team the spot is then gone. If your club has a team good enough to play, too bad. It's Whitecaps or nothing! This is called development people! Take spots away from kids, that's how we are going to help player development. 6 Alliance teams finished 1st in their divisions and now are not allowed to play next season!!!!!

This is the new Player Development Model for Ontario.....take opportunities away to try to force them to certain clubs! Well done OS, EMSA and Whitecaps, the only thing your doing is driving kids out of the sport.
