I've asked around and don't recall getting a clear answer. Are the team's that are joining (they are taking existing teams in to the new Canadian League, right, not creating them out of thin air like MLS does?) the new Canadian Premier League going to be required/mandated to have some kind of youth development 'commitment' as part of their footballing operations from Day 1? A national league launching in pretty crappy economic circumstances seems, ill-advised. This will constrain many who were looking to expand operations or launch new ventures over the next few years. Sport is a business, after all.

There is not much information yet about the Canadian Premier League, something that even the league itself acknowledges. But from the information that is coming out, one would expect that youth development is part of the agenda. What that looks like, we wont know until we know. But there is a model that is used stateside by the MLS clubs called the USSDA that might be a refetence.
